Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Junction | SpringerLink

The electric characteristics of the junctions between metals and doped semiconductors, as seen in Chap. 2, are characterized by conductivity and capacitance, whose value is a non-linear function of the applied voltage. In this chapter we will study the properties of a device where the metal and the semiconductor are separated by an insulator layer.

What is Capacitor and How Does It Work ?

Capacitor Construction. A capacitor is constructed out of two metal plates, separated by an insulating material called dielectric. Electric Fields and Capacitance | Capacitors | Electronics Textbook

A capacitor''s ability to store energy as a function of voltage (potential difference between the two leads) results in a tendency to try to maintain voltage at a constant level.
