Elemental sulfur, as a cathode material for lithium-sulfur batteries, has the advantages of high theoretical capacity (1675 mA h g −1) and high energy density (2600 Wh kg −1), showing a potential 3–5 times energy density compared with commercial LIBs, as well as natural abundance, environmental-friendly features, and a low cost.
